Hi all,

i always used windows, but thinking on linux, so i got Knoppix as a start (not to change paritions, install, etc).

i have bios set to boot from floopy, hd, then CD, and i leave linux cd always in these days.

i don't want to chang bios settings each time i want to run linux, while leaving linux cd always in drive. i want to see if there exist a floppy when booted, switch to boot from CD.

Any Ideas?

thanks

I'm not quite sure that i understand the question. Why not just set the bios to boot from the floppy first, then CD, then hard drive and just put the CD in when you need it?.

Or install Knoppix on the hard drive and dual boot (have a choice to boot either Windows of Knoppix)?

danleff, on a related note, how user friendly is the Knoppix install? I finally figured out the install with Morphix, but it's still a little rough around the edges.

Not bad at all. The instructions show you how to change the default language to english, if that is what you want. Add the relevent entries to grub or lilo and all is fine!

Here is the how-to link;

what i meant is that i don't want to install knoppix on my HD, there is no free partitions now, and if i want to install a linux, i would install some other one (mandrake, redhat, suse).

what i want is: does it exist a floppy that when booted will forward booting to CD (or a boot manager that runs from floppy).
