Just backed up using xcopy32 and it copied all the files over the 8 chars long with the ever so annoying ~1. I really dont have a problem with this, but i have about 5 gigs of mp3z that look like this. Is there any program that will change it??? Or am I stuck?

So they were longer than 8characters before you burned them. Is that what you are saying? You need to look through the options of your CD burning proggie.

heh.....sorry....I backed up one HD with the other, but the first need to be formatted. Using xcopy after format to transfer from d: to c:...this is what happened.

ah, so you used Xcopy from a version of DOS earlier than 7.0? and since earlier than 7 long filenames were not supported your files were cut to their 8 character alias. Hmmmmm.

If you still had the original I would recommend copying from that in Windows. If you don't have your original you are either going to have to rename each file back one-by-one or IIRC there is a prog that will look at your MP3's and name them but I highly doubt it.
