I've got a GeForce DDR installed on my windows 2000 professional setup, however, when I run Quake II, it defaults to 60fps (60Hz) - I have tried PowerStrip, but that's completely screwed my display.

Does anyone know of any programs to alter the refresh rate (85Hz if pos) in win2k / geforce?

Just to update:

I simply edited the nv4_disp.inf file from the detonator 5.13 drivers, end removed all refresh rates up to 75hz, thus leaving minimum refresh rate @ 800x600 (what I play Q2 in) at 85Hz.

Thought this might come in handy to someone.

Another option would be to use the r_displayrefresh command followed by a vid_restart.

Another thing that can be done for any video card with this problem.

1)Bring up the DXdiag (type "dxdiag" from run, or CMD prompt).
2)Go to the "More Help" tab.
3)Click the "Override..." button.
4)You can then type in the refreash rate you want to force DirectX to use.

That should work for DirectX games but that won't help OpenGL games at all. The only 2 ways I know of that TRULY fix this problem right now for ALL games is to hack the NV4_DISP.INF file or use PowerStrip.
