I've been looking into a scanner for my machine that I'm building and I would like some suggestions on any good scanners that you have been successful with under linux.

Can't tell you which one to get as I've not made a choice myself. Have you checked the Comatability pages here? When I switched to Linux my Visioneer scanner instantly became a boat anchor. wink

I'm no good here. I have an old Agfa 1212U USB scanner that works well.

What distro and version are you using?

Look on the distro's home page for scanner (hardware) compatibility and search on the web for those whiich are listed to work. Choose one that meets your budget and needs.

Anybody got a good one that is newer than my old horse?

laugh Well said. You should first look for a scanner that fulfills your needs and/or budget, then check to see if that scanner is compatible in Linux. Lots of USB scanners are working under Linux nowadays, so your search shouldn't take long smile
