I currently have a laptop that I carry around to many different locations. I would like to be able to save my IP address and other settings so I will not have enter them in every time I connect to the network (Like at home, work, school). There are a total of about 25 places that I connect to with static and DHCP assigned IP's. I am currently using NT4, and thinking of upgrading to Win2000 just because I will not have to restart. I will go to the store and buy it now if it can remember all of those settings.

I'm not nearly as ambitious as you, but I do hop around among 5 locations with LANs. I use NetSwitcher 3.1.8 under W2K Pro on my notebook. Very easy to use. You just set up your network settings for a specific location, crank up NetSwticher, and save that as a named profile. However, it does ask you to reboot between locations. I haven't bothered to ignore it to see what happens. It looks to me like W2K can go between places without any help from third party apps, and without any fiddling or rebooting -- as long as all locations use DHCP. Haven't tried, so don't know for sure.

It doesn't look like it is possible, although most of the servers I connect to are DHCP, so it isn't much of a problem going between those servers. It is still much better than anything else, mainly because you do not have to restart.
