Need some advice. There is a suspicion that one of the network users is stealing data. There is a CD burner in the office + they are allowed web based email also. I thought to install some spy software like: http://www.acespy.com/details.html We need to see if he/she is mailing the data out or even using the CD burner. Windows 2000 server, Exchange 2000 and win 2K Pro workstations I do know that we need to block webmail and the CD burner, but we dont want to until we get the required evidence. We need to find out what they are up to, anyone got some good tips, experience or advice on this one?

Thanks for the input guys. I removed the gateway from NIC1 (internal NIC) no luck I tried the outside NIC as gateway and the router also, no change. The server can see shares etc from the other network. What i cant understand is the workstations can ping the other network workstations and DSL router, but not get internet packets back to them. Also noticed that the workstations cant see the other domain Controller or workstations in Microsoft Windows Network. Cheers for the help

Same Net. I can get internet from 2Kserver 2, ping all the PC's and router on network 10.10.10.0. But from the workstations i cant get internet. I can ping router and other network, not google. I have an Exchange 2K server running on 2K server. Want to be able to POP3 email from outside the network. Set up POP3 on the server, as administrator i can use POP3 , but normal users cant . Its bizarre, i can telnet to the admin POP3 account etc, but as a normal user i cant. Am i missing something here ?

Yep, which is a good thing 4 sure. Was an oversight on my behalf for not telling him he had to check that box when setting up outlook. Thanks

Fixed. The user needed to check the box "my outgoing SMTP server requires authentication" in Outlook.

This is strange. Remote user is sending email via dial- up connecting to our domain mail server using POP3 and SMTP, can send email to our domain name but to other domains cant send and receive email, I dont know what seems to be the problem. Yet when logged in locally to the actual domain can send to anyone outside the domain. Can telnet into 110 and 25. Any ideas please.

Hah Yes I remember when win2K come out and I had tons of game issues and used to and still do visit NTcompatible a few times a day to get all the fixes and tips.

Im currently doing CCNA (semester 3) and am on my 2ND year of my Computer science degree. Computer science degree = a load of crap CCNA = damn handy stuff now why is say a degree is rubbish is you dont learn anything for the real world ... its all out of date... you walk out of there 3 years behind the real world where i work part time ..people walk in with degrees ... thinking they are quite good .. usually last a week ....its not their fault, but the real world is quite different from uni.... Basically if you want to learn computing ,, do it at home ... all you need is the internet, 1/2 dozen puters, range of operating systems and some books. I learnt more playing around at home in a few months than college taught me in 2 years...... The only reason im doing the degree as it == £££ for that lousy piece of paper ......and i can catch up on my sleep during the lectures Without good practical skills, the real world doesnt want to know you ....

My website = 5GB data transfer/day 120,000 impressions/day and i have had 177 banner clicks in 6 days ......hhahahaa 177 177 = about 10cents lol people think that Bandwith just gets given to you for no cost...
