    Best drivers for GeForce4 Ti4400 128MB......anyone?

What processor/amount of RAM do you have? This is a big deciding factor in game performance along with video card. Also, what are you sound settings for the game? EAX? What are your friends sound settings and processor/RAM? In order to diagnose the problem, we need to know these things. The 30.82 drivers should be fine. They are the most updated, and ive yet to hear any major problems with them.

    Neverwinter Nights- Worth buying?

This game was a blast to play. I beat it in about 3 days.. (thats how many hours i spent addicted to it). And, it was so fun that i started again with a different character. Got him to about lvl 9, then decided that i would try some other games. Granted, there are a couple bugs, but i never ran into ANY of them. And this game is a LOT less buggy than some of the other d&d games. ie: pool of radiance. The story to NWN is awesome. Bioware stayed consistent with their intriguing storylines. It makes you want to keep playing to find out what happens next. The character creation and advancement is awesome. The skills are right on for every character, the spells are awesome, graphically and realistically, and the fighting is great as well. You can actually look down and watch the computer roll the dice for your attacks, saves, etc... The melee combat is cool to watch, the characters parry and dodge. The gameplay is incredible. I mean, yeah, so there are some bugs, but what game doesn't have bugs? Just hit the "G" key and quick save frequently. That way if somethign happens, you only lose about 5 mins of playing time. Anyway, if you like D&D...and you've liked Biowares titles in the past, then definitely get this game. Its a blast..

    Here's an interesting one....

Yeah, that is a good idea viper, thx for posting. But, unfortunately, Clutch is right. This is such a wierd issue...ive never had to deal with anything like this and im completely stumped. Ive been reading technet and win2k admin books all day long. lol I found a slight workaround...having them log in locally and mapping drives to their static ips...but these people are so anal and very computer iliterate that i know they would b|tch about multiple profiles and the fact that they would actually have to think before doing anything. Plz continue to inform me of any ideas, i really appreciate your help. I am beginning to think that this is impossible to do...but i don't want to give up yet. Thanks again guys.

Hmmm, no i haven't...i will try that.. Thanks for the quick reply. If you find anything out, please enlighten me. Thanks again man.
  5. Clutch, i require your expertise. And of course, all other net admins. Anyway, Im having a problem with win2k machines logging in with cached profiles and trying to share with each other while not connected to a Domain Controller. Here is the situation: 2 accountants in the office use laptops. While they are in the office, they log into our domain and everything is fine of course. But when they leave to go on an audit, they take the laptops with them. While they are off site they have to be able to replicate some databases over the internet. The get put on the other company's network, but we want to keep them on a little peer to peer by themselves. In other words, we don't want them joining the other company's domain. The way we do this is by having them enter their user name, password, and OUR domain when they log in. The SAM has their profiles and accounts cached, so they log in perfectly fine. (so they are now on a workgroup with the same name as our domain in the office. This seperates them from the other company's domain, but enables them to share with each other...or so you would assume) Here's where the problem comes....when they go to browse the network, they see each other, and only each other...which is fine...thats what we want, but when they try to access each other's computers, they get an error saying "there are no available login servers to service the logon request." I was wondering, if you, clutch, or anyone else knew how to fix this without changing any other network settings. I was fiddling around with security policies, but i still couldn't get it to work. Any help/ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys..

    WinXP and Games Compatibility

If you can't run games like normal...try using the compatibility program that is built into XP. Its a great program! And it does work.

    CS locking up

If its locking up and restarting then most likely you are gettting a "blue screen." Go to your administrator tools ----> event viewer and look under the system and application logs. See if it gives you a reason for the last reboot or hang. If i had to guess, its going to say nv4disp.dll, which is the video drivers. But, ya never know. First you need to find out the problem before you assess it.

    Geforce 2 Go

Do a windows update. When you get to the page, do the customize update option. Then select hardware, and search on your own. You can figure the rest from there. There is a thread on this board that addresses this, and i can't remember the exact steps to do this. But Microsoft has Geforce 2 Go drivers that are pretty recent. like 10-25 i think. Good luck.

    XP Problems...

kyairan, kill daemon tools. When i tried running that, my comp BSOD'd A LOT. Just a suggestion....also, kill winamp and surf the web without it to see if it crashes. If it doesn't then turn it on. Do this until you can pin point whether or not it has anything to do with your sound drivers or excess memory load. Just out of curiosity, what is your page file set at? With 256 megs of ram, i would put it at about 512-768 page file. Hope this helps..

    XP Xplosion!

Hmmmm, were you running antivirus software? If so, was it completely updated? This sounds like you could have gotten a virus. That's my guess.

Intellimouse explorer cuts out under XP

Did you upgrade to xp or do a full fresh install?? If you upgraded, that might be a problem, because of the previous mouse drivers/software. I recommend uninstalling all mouse software, uninstalling the mouse, and uninstalling your usb ports. Then reboot and let windows reinstall them all again. Then install the 4.01 mouse drivers. If this doesn't work, it might be a hardware problem...in fact, it probably is. Hope this helps.

Q3 in WinXP; is this par for the course?

Clutch, the new XP drivers (optimized for XP) drastically increase performance for the majority of its users. Both myself and a friend of mine jumped 12-17 fps in Q3 and about 500 marks in 3dmark2001. Kinda nice for us gamers eh?

    Unreal Tournament Problem

Ive seen this before...and i can't exactly remember how i fixed it. I think it has something to do with the desktop resolution. Change it so the resolution and color for your desktop is the same as it is in the game. For instance, make your desktop 1024x768 16-bit and make it the same thing in the game. I think it has something to do with this, but i can't remember. Try it....hope it works.
