Problem with Wireless causing Router Resets

I registered on this forum just to reply to this topic and say that geeandevil's solution worked for me as well. I have a Netgear WGR614 v7 wireless router hooked up to my telecom-provided fiber modem, with the Netgear serving as a wireless access point for a Samsung netbook running an up-to-date version of Windows XP. For the past few months my connection at home had been very bad; when my wife's netbook (same model, also XP) was on there was no problem, but as soon as I opened my laptop the router would soft-reset, then reconnect, then soft-reset again every 30 seconds or so. I tried resetting the router to factory settings, upgraded drivers on the laptop, etc. Nothing work until I googled this post today. Since I turned off uPnP about 20 minutes ago, I have uninterrupted connectivity. Awesome. Thanks geeandevil.
