How about IBM's X-Series ThinkPad. You can even play the odd 3D game on it (16MB Radeon 7500)

64Bit Computing, A bit too much?

End of next year is a very optimistic for AMD's 64-bit, I expect 32bit computing to dominate the market until 2005. You have to remember that even though Intel is playing down the role of pure 64bit computing, they do dominate the home and office PC markets. Moreover, AMD's 64bit can only dominate if there is sufficient 64bit software to allow it to fulfil its potential. WindowsXP 64bit edition feels to be just a stop-gap till Microsoft releases a proper OS that incorprates support for AMD.
  4. If you're are a network it might to useful to have access to Messenger, however, it is annoying when you get spammers using it too. So simply activate the built-in firewall on the network connection that has access to the internet. That will stop the spammers.
  5. I thought the most amazing thing was how they managed to shot a ghost-town London.

What motherboard to get with AMD Opteron 240?

Hi, I'm not sure if any are out yet but you can try the following site which showcases some of the forthcoming motherboards. http://www.amdboard.com/opteron_boards.html As far as I know the only Opteron motherboards that is available to buy are the MSI K8D Master-F and the Tyan Thunder K8S. These are server boards so you might have to pay in the region of $500+.

    ATi Catalyst 3.3 - when???

Go to the ATI website, 3.4 is available for download.
  9. You could always try eBay. A search for "Gigabyte 8IHXP" results in 5 lots with the most expensive being $69.99 & $84.99.
  10. Hi, You might encounter quite a few problems in replacing the motherboard in your Dell machine. Dell constantly design their own non-standard motherboards, thus, trying to replace or upgrade one is problematic. Most of the cable and pin headers are non-standard and more alarmingly the pinouts for the Dell proprietary "ATX" power supply is also wired differently. Which can be fatal to all standard ATX boards. You will have to change to power supply as well as the motherboard (that is once you've managed to find out that fits properly.
  11. Hi, X2 is actually very good. The plot is somewhat slighty weak, but you'll be compensated by the lavish special effects which makes it a real joy to watch. Can't wait for Matrix Reloaded

How do I uninstall WMP9 and reinstall WMP8...

The feature is part of Windows XP SP1, as Microsoft was required to do so as part of the anti-trust thing-a-midgets.

How do I uninstall WMP9 and reinstall WMP8...

Hi, i haven't tried this but you could always give it a go. Fire up 'Add or Remove Programs' from the Control Panel and click on Add/Remove Windows Components. Windows Media Player is on the list of programs which can be removed. You could give a go and see what happens.
