Can't get LinkSys NIC to work on Mandrake 9.0

I fixed the I-net problem, the autodetect feature couldn't pick up my DNS entry. I manually keyed it in and I'm good to go now. Thanks, --Dave I have another question though, I really want to install the game L-General. I downloaded the files. I have absolutely no idea how to install this game. Anyone know the cli commands to setup this up? I'm using KDE so far. I'm not new to computers, just to Linux (old dos 6-win3.11 user.) thanks, Dave
  2. system specs: celeron 333a 32mb sdram i810e integrated graphics & sound. Distro = Mandrake 9.0 when i tried startx at the console, I get an EE error claiming that only 6MB is available for AGP and it's not enough to start X in any available video mode. Why is it that win95 can do it (even though it's slow n crappy?) What is the smallest distro that will support X with 32MB of ram & integrated video + sound ? I was planning on using this for a car mp3/ogg player juke box. thanks, --New to Linux.
  3. Hello Mandrake 9.0 users, I am a recent convert to linux, mandrake distro, I really do like the desktops. I am unable to get my networking up and running. I connect to the internet using a Linksys NIC -> cable modem router -> to cable connection. the automatic config doesn't work. (i can't connect to the internet.) I tried keying all my information, but because its a DHCP cable modem, I don't think I can specify an IP anyway. Mandrake did find the right host name though it kept timing out when trying to connect to the internet. Anyone know how to setup networking (from the basics) or where I can get some information? I don't have the manual to F'ing read. thanks, Dave
  4. Hello, I recently bought (off of ebay) Performance Technologies' PCI470 64bit PCI to Fibre channel adapter HBA for use with some cheap Fibre channel harddrives I bought. This product is obsolete, it was originally manufactured by SUN, but SUN's message boards are the absolute worst I've ever seen since I first used the internet in 1994. PT has a Solaris 64bit, and 32bit driver PT has a Windows NT Driver, but it's from January 1998. The drive won't install in windows XP. Would this driver work under Windows 2000? Would it work uner any older Win 9X system? I'm desperate here, because there isn't much information on this card. THanks, system specs: rev 1.04 A7M266-D Dual Duron 1GHz 256MB DDR AGP = Inno3D Geforce 2 GTS PCI 64bit 1 = empty PCI 64bit 2 = PCI470 64bit 66MHz Fibre channel HBA PCI 32bit 1 = ASUS USB 2.0 card PCI 32bit 2 = Creative labs Sound blaster Audigy PCI 32bit 3 = Realtek 10/100 Ethernet card. The device shows up as an unknown scsi device. If there is a way to fool windows XP into loading the driver, I'm all ears!
