    USB boot question

put mousedev and hid in the /etc/modules file in this order hid mousedev should be good to go. the /etc/modules file is where all modules go if you want them autoloaded at boot *note the above is only for debian... manifest

    Can't get MP3s burned

I thought most gui cd burning software used cdrecord as the backend. but none the less i noticed at http://www.xcdroast.org/ that there is a problem with the default xcdroast that comes with rh8. it says to get the rpm from them and everything should be aok! http://www.xcdroast.org

    Counter-Strike on SuSE Linux 8.1???

To me, it doesn't make any sense to use wine or another windows virtual os. They're slow and generally it's a bitch to get things working. Just play q3a or ut2003 on your linux boxen. They run natively and quite well might I add. good luck manifest

    MSN Messenger Client

I am a firm believer in gaim (http://gaim.sourceforge.net). It works wonderfully with almost every im protocol out there. plus the automatic logging of all conversations (and i mean everything that is sent and received) is soo nice. I love the way it uses plugins for adding new protocols. manifest

    Necessary or Just a War?

I always find these posts when they have totaly changed the subject and what not. Stay on subject boys! Here's my attempt or a story for those of you who like stories. My mom had a old gateway we got when I was a freshman in high school (about 6 years ago or more) and it was hitting it's last end. So she said I got 200 bucks to spend on a computer what can ya do for me. She only plays solitare,MS office, uses Hallmark card maker and listens to music. My choice, an althon 1 gig with 256mb of crucial ram and a mobo with onboard - nic, modem, sound and display. With the little she does with that computer it will last her another 6 years. She didn't even let me reformat the hard drive because likes windows 95 sooo much (yes it actually runs smoothly, fast and has no problems). 200 bucks will last her 4 to 6 years. Thats all there is to this story. manifest

XP vs. 2000 with a hint of Linux

I know that there is a linux initiative for the .net framework and it is being written right now. I don't have time to look for any links (hopefully i'll remember when i get home). MS wants .net framework everywhere so letting the open source community use it will be good for them in the long run.

Off Topic: Which Linux should I run, fed up.

Personally i use debian as my choice of a distro (apt-get is the wave of the future!!). Anyway I first started out with red hat a long time ago then I lost that pc do to a fried mb. Didn't have a second pc to install linux on for a while, but I finally got a second pc and now that runs debian with kde as gui for all my non gaming needs. I wouldn't suggest starting out your main box as a linux box. Get a p2 400 or something like that and test away!

Let's talk Sound Cards, Hercules brand

I love this sound card. Drivers are updated regularly, and it sounds great. You can pick it up compusa for like 80 bucks also. www.turtlebeach.com manifest

    dns2go opinions

I have been using www.dhs.org for my domain name hosting for about 9 months now. The plus to their service is that they don't require a program to run on a local machine. This works great if your connection is always on (cable modem or dsl with a gateway). Until recently it was free, now they only charge something like 5 dollars per hostname. Works great! manifest

    Just saw Episode 2

For some reason I feel i have to reply to above post to defend my point of view. One doesn't go to a star wars movie looking for action every 30 seconds and tits in their face. If I want to see that I would go watch The big hit (you know the one with marky mark?) I was expecting a lot more from this as ep1 was just, as someone else in the thread said, the first 3 chapters of a good book. I really can't explain what really got to me except for what appeared to be un-rehearsed lines and actors that just didn't seem to care about what they were doing. The story line was interesting and definetly leads to what will happen in the furture episodes. Also the scenes and props and cg were amazing. Just think it could have been a lot better.

    Just saw Episode 2

ep2 was just plain boring. The dialouge was crappy. The fight scenes were normal and nothing great. I went to the bathroom 3 times during the movie because i got so bored of the lackluster acting job by all except who ever played obi one. Unfortunately i'm going to go see all of the movies because of my love for the orginal trilogy.
