Well the other day I wanted to look at my prefetch directory and see if any programs had a profile there that I didn't want optimized, since there's a limit as to how many programs have prefetch data stored for them. Well I couldn't find the PreFetch directory. Somehow it became disabled. I checked a friends computer and his was there, I then deleted the files in it and they reappeared when we rebooted. I then downloaded Windows XP Prefetch Clean and Control program from majorgeeks and set it to Monitor Application and Boot File Launch (Windows Default). However after I rebooted I only saw 1 file in the PreFetch Directory: NTOSBOOT-B00DFAAD.pf Also I've rebooted several times and this file has not changed in size or date. Anyone know how to fix my PreFetch so it will once again monitor boot and application launches? When this occured I have no idea, but it may have been after SP1, I also have never meddled with the PreFetch other than cleaning out the directory from time to time.

Yes I was hoping you would have a registry compacting option, but I'm glad to see that you will have it sometime in the future.....however since you don't have it now, what current utility would you suggest for job? I currently have RegCompact 1.0 Anyone else have experience with something better or worse? -
That doesn't seem to be it. I checked all my connections in Network connections and none have the ICF option ticked. Is there some other place this may be checked? I've shutdown zonealarm and no longer have this problem. I am resorting to Blackice I'll have to check ZA again when version 3 is out of beta.

Sorry to resurrect this topic back up, but I decided to look for my problem before starting a new thread and guess I'm not the only one. I also have ZoneAlarm 2.6.362 and after about 2 disconnects I can no longer check anything on the Internet after I connect to my ISP. I connect but I don't receive any data, http, smtp, ftp, all transfers are shot. Has anyone tried the new ZoneAlarm 3 Beta or come up with some fix? My friend with dial in DSL also has this problem (I am on a 56k connection)
